The best way to see Mostar and around and learn about Bosnia and Herzegovina seemed to be to do a tour. This involved getting a local guy's history lesson before he took us to a number of important sites around town, mostly relating to the war. Later, we went on to see some impressive waterfalls at Kravica. With my plaster cast, I couldn't swim, but went for a wade in the water over to the waterfalls. The water was very cold, but on a hot day this soon became just pleasantly refreshing. Then we had lunch, which was a feast of grilled meat. After this we went on to an ancient town to see the castle and fort. After this we stopped in at an old lady's house, where she gave us lots of cake, fruits, Bosnian coffee and home made cordials. Our final stop was the Dervish house, where Turkish clerics had made an impressive house and centre for meditation. This was in an amazing location, nestled under a rocky outcrop with a river coming out of the rock. It was dark, so no time to explore too much, and by the time we got back it was midnight. But nonetheless, we were given tasty soup on our return.
