Next day, it was time to ride over Transfagarasan, said by Top Gear to be the best road in the world. But as we were moving the bikes out of the accommodation, I missed my footing, and the bike and I fell over. The bike landed on me, and my foot was rather painful. We righted the bike, and after I'd decided I could walk, we continued on, grabbed some breakfast and headed up the road. The road was indeed amazing, with stunning views and great corners, but it was rather busy (with several classic car rallies as well as other tourists) and the road surface wasn't perfect. But that didn't stop us having a lot of fun. After many scenic photo stops, we reached the top, which was ridiculously crowded, so we continued through the tunnel and down the other side. The other side was equally stunning and twisted its way down eventually reaching a lake. This lake is multi-pointed star shaped and each point comes with lots of nice twists and turns. Eventually we reached a dam which had hundreds of cars parked. We decided to stop for lunch and grabbed some barbecued sweet corn. After lunch we went through a tunnel to the west of the lake. This turned out to be unpaved, but we continued to see what would happen. It then got rather muddy. The others got through, so I went through, but slid and dropped the bike in the mud! Oops! We picked the bike up and apart from the mud, all was fine. We continued round, and it was quite a challenging ride, but lots of fun. Eventually we reached a hotel and stopped for a coffee. Suddenly, we got some rain. We thought it would clear quickly and waited, but it got heavier. Eventually it stopped, so we prepared to go, but before we could, it rained heavily again. We sheltered and when it died down we rode off. Luckily it wasn't too flooded, and riding was fine. Eventually we hit tarmac again. As we'd taken all the photos and I'd run out space on the GoPro, we could focus on just enjoying the road. The road back up was busier than before but we still had fun. Near the top it was blocked with traffic, so we took a break and enjoyed the scenery. When we went through to the other side it was insanely busy. The queue to get up to the top stretched a long way back down. It was slow, but scenic progress. I managed to make a bit of a bid for freedom, but found more traffic further down. We got back safely, then went out for dinner. Unfortunately, my foot hurt to walk on, so I checked it again, and it was swollen.
