Next day, we re-grouped and headed out to see what we could find. The town was dead, but then we got in position on the bridge to hear the 21 cannon salute - very loud! We explored more, and got some lunch, then it was time for the bands to start. On the actual National Day, there was only one area with bands, rather than many, as the day before. But there were lots of different ones, starting with the military band, then others including a saxophone quartet who played many covers in an entertaining way, and a band playing a combination of German oompah / salsa / fiesta / Tom Jones and James Brown covers sung in Luxembourgish! The finale was a talented local Latin salsa band with up to 12 musicians on stage at a time. By this time, the town was very busy again, and they were ready for another night out, but we'd had enough fun for one day.
