We headed down to the train station before 6 to catch the train to Sarajevo, as it says supposed to be amazing views on the way. The route was indeed dramatic, as it got very mountainous with big rocky mountains and deep valleys, and the train went through many tunnels. It reminded me of a cross between Switzerland and Colorado. We finally arrived and after a long wait in the sun for a local tram, headed into town. After checking in to the accommodation, I immediately joined a tour to visit the Sarajevo front line during the war. We went into the mountains, and first stop was an old hotel, which had become a sniper nest during the war. Then we went up to the top and found many bunkers and trenches. It a important to stick close to the guide as the whole area was full of mines and only his route was known to be safe. In fact, on the way back we saw the mine clearers at work - that must be stressful work! Our guide's father was a local hero from the war and told us all about life during the war and what he got up to.

We then went into town and had some lunch and some Bosnian coffee (it's really very good!) and then I did the town walking tour to learn more about the town and its diverse, multi-cultural history. After this I got some local food, then headed up to the fortress above town to catch the sunset. There I met some friends from the tour, and we headed back into town to get another coffee and some tasty local desserts. Finally, back at the accomodation, we watched a war documentary.
